• Those wishing to contribute to the game by making suggestions (both small and large) should read the following before doing so.

Bushtarion largely runs completely automatically, and has been designed intentionally to be as self-maintaining as possible, with mechanics and balance considered at a completed point.

Please do not spend large amounts of time coming up with complex suggestions in the hope that they will be read and possibly implemented in the future, unless you just enjoy the discussion, theory-craft, and such.

The most likely changes will be rules-changes, specific number-tweaks to units, techs, and similar sorts of changes, and only if a large community consensus is reached as "proof" that a change would, overall, be an improvement, and are more likely to be done in batches, occassionally, not as a regular thing.

A few simple guidelines for people trying to think up new ideas/wanting to post a suggestion - these aren't rules, merely pointers to help you and myself along.

1. Most obviously - check there isn't already anything like it in the game.

2. Check an idea like/similar to yours hasn't been suggested before.

3. Try to make your idea comprehensive, concise and to the point. Where appropriate, point out/think about how an implementation of your idea could be used or abused, and how to circumvent abuse. Remember: If it can be abused in the remotest way, then rest assured it will be abused!

4. Consider what impact your idea may have on the balancing of the game - for example, is it something that will advantage a single tech route - which could immediately imbalance all the routes. Is it a modifcation to a single land-type/season, which could imbalance 1 type of land compared to the others.

5. Think about the size and style of your idea. Is it something that could/would actually change the nature, and core base of Bushtarion? If so, then it will never be implemented - in this case, perhaps your idea would be better suited to a more appropriate game, or set about creating your own game if you have radically different ideas/suggestions to what is already in place in Bushtarion.

Short & Sweet?

Just a quick pointer... this is pretty obvious, but as often as not, the best suggestions I receive are the small, simple & sweet suggestions people sometimes make. The following are some recent examples of suggestions made by players (some directly to me personally, others here on the forums) that got implemented:

* Changing the hiring page in the manual to have "different coloured stripes" for each of the unit.
* Making owner/company names for incoming/outgoing on your overview and news page links to the message page to quickly message them.
* Combine info/send boxes in to a single table on the military page.
* Ask for confirmation when trying to kick an alliance members.
* Have an easy "Leader Transfership" button.
* Send an email containing new account info whenever your password get's changed.
* New options for people booking private worlds to set alliance limits/disable alliances/disable defence for non-alliance members.

That's not to say small suggestions are the only things to ever go in by any means... it's just that they're most likely to follow/not even need to follow the suggestion guidelines above (notice how none of the suggestions above even have anything to do with imbalancing the game, changing the nature of it etc.).
