Random band you have heard that did it better than the mainstream

I was listening to some random regional (local) youtube videos and I have heard many bands that try to copy a certain sound and did it much better. I was wondering if you guys know a certain genre of music or band sound that has been done better by a local band, or even a well known band. I just kinda want to hear something mainstream and then something random that emulates the sound.
