5.1 Sound Card

I have some 5.1 speakers and want to get a sound card that will allow me to get the proper surround sound experience.

Could someone recommend a good USB sound card that will allow me to do this? I don't know how much should be spent on a sound card so if you could suggest some of a range of prices would be great. My laptop also has an ExpressCard/54 slot but from what I gather from googling there isn't an expresscard sound card that has 5.1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

My laptop is a HP Pavillion dv9000 and runs Vista Home Premium if that matters!

Thanks. Do you think they aren't worth it then? If USB sound cards aren't very good would you be able to suggest any other way of doing it externally?

USB is your only option for an external soundcard. The point is external soundcards generally aren't a great way of doing it, but when you have no other alternatives then that's that The one DA posted will be fine and isn't a bad price at all.

Creative's X-Fi ExpressCard supports 5.1 via an "docking module", apparently. Not sure what one of those is though.
