should somones company name be changed as it contains Golliwog? official it isnt a "racist term" but unofficially it is classed as racist. and percieved by some as racist.

not sure which catogory this should go in as its bushtarion and not bushtarion related.

Upton's Golliwogg and friends in The Adventures of two Dutch Dolls And A Golliwogg, published in 1895. Most often shown in children's books, it was often described as "a horrid sight, the blackest gnome."

The "Golliwogg" (later "Golliwog") is a rag doll-like, children's literary character created by Florence Kate Upton in the late 19th century. The Golliwogg was inspired by a blackface minstrel doll Upton had as a child in America. At one point it was very popular in Europe and as a result has become a collector's item. However, the image of the doll has become the subject of heated debate. One aspect of the debate in its favour argues that it should be preserved and passed on as a cherished cultural artifact and childhood tradition, while opponents argue it should be retired as a relic of an earlier time when racism against black people was blatant.

if someone is offended by the word golliwog then **** me they need shooting or told to fack orf! people these days really do take the piss. moan at anything, freedom of speech well what is that nowadays. If anything is racist these days its attitudes towards white people, calling everything they do or say racist etc, schools banned from nativity plays incase they offend other religions... your in a freaking christian country!! its nutts. tbh tho most people arent actually offended by it, but the middle to upper class twits who make such things happen, who think they are doing it for the good actually cause ethnical rifts in society.

heres the biggest piss take, our black friends who use the word ****** in therir lyrics calling themselfs it, their people, their fams and then threaten to knock you out when you a white person call em ******.

In the past these were racist things as back then the world wasnt fair but political correctness in modern society is all messed up. Call me a stinky white boy or whatever i dont care because why should anything ou say bother me??

Worry about america and their attitude toward recycling and environmental issues not the word golliwog, the name of a doll in someones name.
