Have had it pre-ordered for quite some time :p Was excited from the very first few Western screenshots that started emerging - really looking forward to playing around in the open beta this weekend.

I'll be giving it a spin.

Still curious about PVP though. Couldn't find any mention of;
* Open world PVP?
* Looting PVP?
* Are there any special "PVP" servers, or are all servers the same?

The more PVP the better.

Yeah, well, it's a fantasy MMO... So like any fantasy MMO! Has it's own touches but vaguely the same concept.

Enjoying the beta so far. :D

I'm playing a Sin on Castor (I think that's what it's called) with some mates/guildies from Guild Wars. All us euros should play on the same server when it comes out.

Madmeater, having played WoW I can quite honestly say the graphics in this game look quite considerably better than WoW, as do the spells.

I might have a crack at it when it comes out, but by and large I can't really play any MMO without becoming horribly addicted. They're just so demanding. You can pick up an FPS, or even an RTS, and play it for an hour, maybe two. MMORPGs tend to demand 3-5hrs+, and thats a conservative estimate.

I bought it this weekend (downloaded it, so not a pre-order:p). Its ok...it has a bunch of Angels...so huge bonus points! However, twice I have logged in to find a wait list of over 1k players and an estimated 1hr wait. They wont be taking my money for long if that isnt fixed immediately.

Is it possible for Euros to play on an American server? I know in WOW you can pay to be able to. Has anyone heard anything about that here?

Yeah the server waits are a huge issue. They need to sort that out really. Apart from that it's a fantastic game - I'd advise you to stick with it if you can endure the waits! Or log on during offpeak hours and try not to log off :p

Bought it today and going to try it out. I fear it may well be another Warhammer/Age of Conan disaster though, but as an MMORPG addict I have no choice but to try it out.

Well, the beta was fun (only got up to level 15 or so though as I was busy). But the server queues are ridiculous. I've been getting estimated wait times of 5-9 hours every time I've tried to log in. Yesterday the queue was so big it wouldn't even allow me to wait in it!

I've decided I cba to play so, although I spent £35 preordering the game, I'll save money (and time!) in the long run. :)

Still on Kahrun and now level 19 and not a queue in sight! Enjoying the game very much up to now... see what another 10 levels do. I'd exhausted any enjoyment out of Warhammer by lv 30 so who can tell.

How's it stand up to WoW?

What I'm asking is - Are there any quests other than "Bring me back the head of".

That's a rather unrealistic comparison to ask for, at this stage. :p
I've been playing wow for 2.5 years and only just started to get sick of it because of the wotlk raiding set-up which I consider to be highly tedious (same content over and over whether it be from 10 mans, 25 mans, easy, hard or heroic modes), but I've yet to find an MMORPG that has me hooked for the same amount of time.

From what I can see of Aion at this early stage, the graphics (one can spend hours on just the character customization screen) and some of the features are great (the inbuilt quest helper for instance is very good and gaining XP whilst levelling professions and gathering items is also a good addition), but it does lack in other areas, as you'd expect from such a new game (i.e. the non customisable UI is a pain and there are no addons available to help with this, as yet). I've also not experienced any instance raids yet so can't compare like for like with WoW. On a side note, I am told that Aion is in the main a pvp game, which, if true, will seriously affect whether I play it or not, as I detest pvp with a vengeance; if not, I'll continue until it bores me.
As for the quests, they're split into Quests and Campaigns; the latter usually requiring more than one person to complete and rewarding better items/more XP. But overall a quest is a quest in any game... whether it be "bring me a head", "kill a dragon" or "cook a pie" so I'm not sure what you'd consider an "other" quest ?

Having said this, I welcome Aion to fill some time whilst I wait for 2010's WoW Cataclysm and Diablo 3!!!!!!

Well basically I meant are the quests a little meatier than WoWs. I played WoW up to about level 50, when I got sick of the amount of "retrieve" quests.

Also - My other main problem with WoW was the amount of time you played it in one sitting. That amount being borderline unhealthy. Can you log in to Aion and play it for an hour or two, and accomplish shiz, for example? As oppose to WoW, where you log in and anything worth doing takes at least 4 but probably 8.

You can log into wow and play 1 hour a day or 10 hours a day. It is really down to personal preference. I'm not sure when you played but there's more content to play with from level 60, with the ability to join raids etc. As for quests, they're the same throughout any MMORPG I've played, whether it be Diablo 2, Guild Wars, WoW, AoC, Warhammer or Aion so I still don't understand what you consider as being a different type of quest. Invariably they're about retrieving, killing, escorting, exploring something!

What can you do in an hour on WoW? Apart from socialise :p

You could grind for an hour, I guess, but that isnt all that entertaining.

Personally I found instances take an hour to sort out before you've even started getting into it properly.
