I thought it was excellent...i want to go for a second viewing (though my cheap nature has thus far prevented it). the acting was great, plot was well written. I think the dialogue was a little akward in some places (maybe one or two) but not anything that decreased the movie's value (to me anyways). i highly recommend seeing it.

Heath Ledger was brilliant in it, for such a serious and scary (rated 12) film it had some fantastically funny bits.

The pencil magic trick! Amazing!

Definatly worth watching.

Has broken every movie record thus far in its run. Just broke the ten day grossing AND the fastest 300 million mark in the same day. Hopefully it'll sink the Titanic!

But beyond box office grossings :D great movie.

Just saw it today...was incredible. Turns out I was the only person who laughed in the cinema at the pencil trick was an awesome film even if it was one of the longer films

Nothing short of terrible.

3/10.

Too Long.
Batmans voice is annoying.
It's too long by about 45 minutes.
It's missing about 30 minutes of stuff (Should be two movies!)
It's too funny.
It's far far too long.
They should have gone for an R (15) rating rather than the PG-13 (12a), which would have improved the feel of the film a great deal.
The gadgets are TOO over the top and amazing.
The Car turning into the bike is plain stupid.
It's FAR FAR FAR too long.
Twoface is just... Meh.. Not enough development there in the slightest.
The City is completely wrong, it should be an old, dark gothic looking city. Not a New York clone.
The whole mobile phone thing is plain stupid.
And it's too long. If I'm sitting there waiting for a movie to end, it's not an enjoyable movie.

The only two saving graces of the film, are the action scenes are good, and Heath Ledger plays an AMAZING joker. He got it down perfectly, if a little too comically. And yes, i know Joker is meant to be a bit of a funny charecter.. BUT! They took the comedy in the film way too far, and for something like Batman, which should be dark and gothic, i shouldn't be constantly laughing, i should be held on the edge of my seat constantly, I should be having to think alot more than i did, and it should make more of an impression.

Didn't like it, wouldn't recommend it to anyone. See Wall-E instead.

Its two and a half hours. Thats pretty standard for today's movies. I can name quite a few classics people might rate higher than Batman that are longer.

Batmans voice is annoying.

Perhaps Bruce Wayne should just drop the pseudonym and sound normal? It may seem overdone, but to criminals who know he can back it up, not so much.

It's too funny.

The majority of people who saw it described it as the darkest cinema representation of Batman yet.

The City is completely wrong, it should be an old, dark gothic looking city. Not a New York clone.

Batman's Gotham City is Manhattan below Fourteenth Street at eleven minutes past midnight on the coldest night in November.

The gadgets are TOO over the top and amazing.
The Car turning into the bike is plain stupid.
The whole mobile phone thing is plain stupid.

For someone who's describing what the city SHOULD look like based on comics, you seem behind on the fact that Batman's gadgets have ALWAYS been over the top. Still not any more over the top than Iron Man, though.

Twoface is just... Meh.. Not enough development there in the slightest.

Plenty of development as Harvey Dent. As Two-Face, look for a third film, as Aaron Eckhart signed on for two films.

I haven't seen it yet, looking forward to it a great deal tho :P

Can't comment on whether its actually good but just in response to the gadgets, Batman isn't a real superhero anyway, just a rich guy who wants to be one, it makes sense he'd splash out on the most expensive/ridiculous gadgets these days :P (note im not being entirely serious with that point ;) )

Most looking forward to Heath Ledger tho, I would hope he is an amazing joker after the preparation he put into the role (locking himself away in his hotel room for a month to get into the psyche of the character, writing down the jokers thoughts and feelings in a diary) Just hoping I'm not disapointed as a result of the ridiculous amount of hype surrounding his performance

Loving that apparently it's got quite a bit of comedy in it as well, I do love films that fuse action and comedy, what more could you want from a film :P

I'm all up for long films, but for THIS film, it was too long, i was bored and wanted to leave. Some films can handle being 2.5 hours, this one can't.

there is diguising a voice, and the rediculousness that Bale put on it.

[quote:juv7rrb4]It's too funny.

That being maybe true, it's still too funny.

The City is completely wrong, it should be an old, dark gothic looking city. Not a New York clone.

Batman always had fantastic gadgets yes. But they were ALWAYS firmly routed in reality, and things that were not out of reach. The Gadgets in The Dark Knight were just too fantastic. And Iron Man is a completely different kettle of fish, and is barely routed in reality.

Not talking about the next film. Was talking about this one, and in this one it's dissapointing and a complete anti-climax.

First off, it's 'rooted', not routed. I hate to be an arse but it's driving me nuts ;)

Also, Secondly, i think Bobbin simply doesn't like the Dark Knight because everyone else does and we all know how contrary Bobbin likes to be. <3 Bobbin.

Thirdly, as regards the characterization of Harvey Dent, it should be mostly of him and not of Two Face in this film to demonstrate the fall of the 'white knight' to the level of 'chaos pawn' so to speak. I think there shouldn't be a lot of development for Two-Face as it stands in that film. It's very very similar to the build up in the first of the LOTR movies, it's an unfinished work at the end, simply because the tale goes on. You can't develop a full characterization in a movie which is designed to be a 'prequel' of sorts. Also, the irony of you getting mad at the movie for being long, and then decrying it's lack of characterization for Two-Face makes me giggle.

Anywho, cba to refute the rest of your points as i think Forwyn has done a top notch job and you haven't satisfactorily answered him other than 'you, specifically, weren't pleased.'

If you had of read what i said. I said it was also missing about 30 minutes of stuff that should have been there.

45 minutes too long, 30 minutes too short. Should have been two films. As i said :P

Too Long.

If you're not enjoying the film maybe

Batmans voice is annoying.

Was a lil OTT, but I soon adjusted to it....and not really different from Batman Begins :?

It's too long by about 45 minutes.
It's missing about 30 minutes of stuff (Should be two movies!)

I found it to have not enough Stars, but too many Actors

It's too funny.

Umm, it was hardly Scary Movie. there were about 5 'gags' and all the other times I laughed were at the Jokers utterly psychotic evilness...which says a lot about me.....and you as well.

They should have gone for an R (15) rating rather than the PG-13 (12a), which would have improved the feel of the film a great deal.

I actually liked the idea that later that night, some 9 year old would be wetting the bed cos of Dark Knight induced nightmares.

The gadgets are TOO over the top and amazing.

I totally agree, Batman should have a spatula and maybe one of those clockwork torches and nothing else to fight crime, anyone would think he was a 'fictional' superhero or sumfin.

The Car turning into the bike is plain stupid.

How bout a dog...or a bouncy castle.....maybe a Bat Balloon!

Twoface is just... Meh.. Not enough development there in the slightest.

wtf?! You get to see TwoFace in his rawest form, as he transforms from a decent man to a bitter and twisted individual. Totally unpredictable IMO that his character would go down that path in the film.

The City is completely wrong, it should be an old, dark gothic looking city. Not a New York clone.

It's all been done already by Tim Burton, this is a film that vaguely clings onto normality, in terms of the heroes, villains and the world they inhabit. Rather than being totally detached from reality like previous batman flicks.

This film was fantastic, lived up to the hype and Heath Ledger is worhty of an oscar for that role, it's not just a sympathy vote. If you liked the last Batman film you will love this one. Excellent story, script, acting, special effects and cinematography. Best Comic based film this year.

As a summary, I feel that Bobbin is a lot like the Joker (apart from not being funny). He will flame this film purely for the sake of seeing something burn ;)

Oh and I hear he wears make up

Bobbin tends to have similar film tastes as me (not always, but a lot of the time), and I kinda agree with him though I won't break it down like he did :P I rate it higher than Bob but certainly don't understand the hype about it.

I give it 6/10 - decent film - bit of entertainment, but something to watch on DVD when bored on an evening. Really can't understand the high ratings or hype... I rate on entertainment factor alone (since a film has no other purpose!), if I'm entertained then it's a good film, bad acting, cheesy effects, camerawork, script or anything else aside ;)

Finally seen it! Loved it tbh, really enjoyed it. Did see what some of the critics here are talking about tho, so much ridiculousness, i was loving it. And Bale's batman voice did make me laugh at points, the voice seemed to get more over the top with each seen lol.

Overall tho I thought it was a beast, despite the ridiculous gadgets etc (and motorbikes doing flips off walls :P )

Agreed with Treedude. I saw it on Monday, and it's a great film to watch, despite the details being a lil wrong and some silliness, including a bullet with the fingerprint still on and them being to replace every single piece in the right place! :P

But yeah, thoroughly enjoyed it :D Tbh, Bale's Batman voice made me laugh, so added value imo :P

I liked it, not a film I would give it a 10, but yes a 7 or 8. On a part the movie went boring for me, maybe because they made it too long , but if you compare it with the other batmans this movie was great!
