Hi there, I have been searching for a Ethernet Cable which plugs into an Ethernet socket, but then you can plug in two other ehternet cables into this.
I don't know if I have explained it very well. But, I am going to be using the same modem for both my CPU and 360.
Here's my modem:

It only has one Ethernet cable, so I am looking for a cable which allows you to get two Ethernet cables by plugging it into this.
What I am looking for is something like a Mutli-Tab controller. Like in PS2... you can link it into one of the controller sockets and then more people will be able to play as you are able to link more controllers to this device.
Hopefully that explained things a bit better.
I have tried to look on the PC world website but haven't been able to find anything. Does such a cable even exsist? If so, where can I buy one from?

Yeah, you will need a router or a hub. both will do your job. if you do get a router though, make sure it is a modem router, not just a router in general.

Actually, with a standard router he could plug the modem into it and use the router as a bridge. But with a router with an ADSL modem built in, he won't need to use the current modem at all.
I just recently bought this router: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/52244 and it has been pretty good so far. If you're only using ethernet cables, you could get a non-wireless router which would probably be about £10 cheaper.

I would suggest to get 4 port modem/router with built in firewall.

Well my dad bought a router a couple months ago, and it sort of has been laying in our garage slowly gathering layers of dust on it. Since I didn't really need it, as all the PCs are located near a phone jack and have their own individual modems. It was rather pointless. But now I can use it for my PC and 360 which are both on the same table here in front of me.
The model is:

I tried to install it, my PC recognised it immediately. But then when I tried to go onto google, it didn't work. So I figured the modem isn't connected properly, so I go into Network Diagnostics and let it do its thing.
The following message came up:
"There may be a problem with your Domain Name Server (DNS) configuration."
Can someone help me in solving this situation please?
Did you just plug it in and not configure it?
You need to access the router directly and enter your username/password (and possibly a few others things but generally not). To do this you need to find out the IP of you router which you can obtain by opening the command prompt and entering "ipconfig" without the quotemarks and looking under "Default Gateway". Generally the IP will be either 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1
Type this IP into your web browser. You'll probably then be asked for a username/password which is often administrator/password or admin/password if you haven't changed it. Then see if there is a "setup wizard" to help you configure the router.
Or you could read the manual. :P

Done that, still not working. Same error message, as I posted before, comes up. :(
You will probably need to put in the DSL line details (username/password/etc etc etc). You can get all these from your provider.
