insufficient information to answer the question, you didn't say how many tables and chairs there are :P
13:23:51 < |aGit|> 7girls*7bags*7cats*7cats*4legs+14girllegs
^^?

Neither did he tell us how many legs does a girl have, all the while he did tell us that each cat had 4 legs. Thus we can draw a conclusion that the girls have no legs and that there are no other objects in the house that can be classified as a leg.
so to cap it up im tempted to remove the +14 from my above post :)

this is how i interpreted it:
no. of girls:7
no. of girl legs: 7x2 =14
no. of adult cats:7x7x7= 343
no. of adult cat legs:7x7x7x4= 1372
no of lil cats:7x7x7x7 = 2401
no of lil cats legs:7x7x7x7x4 = 9604
9604+1372+14 = 10990
but i think im the only one :(
EDIT: the lil cats cant be in the bags which means they mite not be in the house. in fact the girls mite not be in the house :S

hmm, i got 10,990 is you count the girls legs.
right:
7 girls * 7 bags = 49 bags
49 bags * 7 adult cats = 343 adult cats
343 adult cats * 7 little cats = 2401 little cats
total cats = 343 adult cats + 2401 little cats = 2744 cats
2744 cats * 4 legs = 10976 cat legs
7 girls * 2 legs = 14 girl legs
10,976 cat legs + 14 girl legs = 10,990 total legs
this is ofcourse assuming there is nothing odd, and just taking it at face value.

Tomtree and Emperor got it right. It is indeed 10990. You just won a Dishwasher and Starbucks coupon! It's a simple Maths' question, you just have to carefully read it. ;)

49 bags * 7 adult cats = 343 adult cats
343 adult cats * 7 little cats = 2401 little cats
total cats = 343 adult cats + 2401 little cats = 2744 cats

i thought this was gonna be like that "a man is walking to st ives, he meets a man with 7 wives, 7 wives have 7 cats etc etc" and then at the end its like "how many were going to st ives?"
and the actual answer is 1, as it doesnt say the others are going at all...
