last night i was watchin wrestling (which yes i do regular) and who is making speeches on WRESTLING, its the people running for election in america, now im sat here thinking as an englishman "how the **** are these people being allowed to possibly take in charge of anything" i mean cmon appearing on WRESTLING, if gordon brown appeared on i dno coronation street (english soap opera) id be so embarrassed to have him leading this country.

added to that they were using wrestling quotes in their speeches for example barak obama said "can you smell what Barak is cooking?" which should be what 'the rock' is cooking :P

it made me giggle, as american people what do you think of them pulling this stunt?

a politician will do whatever they need to in order to be in the spotlight and reach as many people as possible.

they did it to try to connect with a group of people they never usually connect with.

as far as my thoughts, i could care less and so should you.

You appear to be suffering from a confusion common among Americans. The correct rendering of this phrase is "I couldn't care less". This means that you care so little, you couldn't possibly care any less about the subject in hand. "I could care less" implies the opposite - that you care at least a little, and therefore you could indeed care less, ergo, you do, in fact, care.

PS - I think it's a bit desperate personally. If people aren't interested in politics then they wont be any more interested when the potential PM makes some speeches on their favourite TV show.

Absolutely correct on the grammar Welshie, However in America people are more likely to vote if they think that the politician honestly has an interest in them. Whether I agree on the format, a politician that reaches out to the masses in thier own turf is more likely to strike an impression on those that wouldn't normally have voted. Somthing along the lines of " Hey Jim Bob Billy knows about Rastlin' so's he's gotta be alright... Let's make him president ma"
Even Jesus spent his time amongst the lepers and see how popular he is nowadays?

We're going to file your post under the 'Duh' category Dr. Welshie and after doing so, perhaps you will get my point. you hit all around it, but care too much about being proper. there was a purpose in wording it that exact way. I could care less, I need to care less and oh as far as correcting people YOU should care less. as your point that was on topic was a P.S., you only posted to one-up me. pathetic.

if i couldn't care less, then i wouldn't have posted.

/me stuffs the pipe with Welshie and CharlieB and smokes it.

If only people cared to try to understand others, rather than spend all their time and energy trying to correct them... I guess we'd finally know peace on earth.

To be honest I think that they couldn't care less where they appear if they get the votes. I mean, losing 1mln votes for winning 5mln is quite a deal...

Here one should ask himself wether the vote of someone who supports Obama after he appeared on a wrestling programme weighs as much as someone who is familiar with the country's affairs and knows exactly why he is voting for a certain candidate.

Sadly the votes do weigh as much. That's the whole purpose of democracy. How do you think George Bush got elected, not only once, but TWICE, no less. :(

I think that the closeness in the race for the democratic party has brought a lot of awareness to America about its own political system. It may be sad that it was/is needed, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I hear more and more conversations amongst people about the candidates, and these conversations have true opinions! It's not a matter of which candidate likes wrestling more...the citizens really care about foreign policy and health care and education. American people are starting to form political opinions, better late than never...and may something good please come of it!

Maybe, just maybe, America can be a nation that is not only perceived as caring for the world (it would be great to know that I live in a country that people liked for a change!!), but actually does. I really believe that people founded America with the best of intentions and that the government was created under such premises. I also believe that for the last half century or longer, the American Govt has run its people instead of the people running the government. The people became blind followers and prosperity and power on the rise kept the people in a state of blind faith.

The Iraq war caused a huge uprising in hatred toward the American govt (if not the people) globally. It was so hard to understand as an American. We truly believed (IGNORANTLY!!!!) that we were a good nation trying to help people in need. The government had/has too much influence over our beliefs and that is because we allowed them to do so. People are waking up..better late than never...please dont condemn them. Wrestling comments...attending a ball game...they are ways of relating to people...and wanting to relate with people (and have them be comfortable in relating to you) is not always a ploy to win them over....maybe, they just want to find common ground to start building a relationship. If you check issues on the three main candidates, none of them have dedicated a section to wrestling....so, yes, I would feel comfortable electing a candidate that speaks publically about wrestling! Now, if they were going to cut educational funding to research the best body slamming technique..then I would be worried.

Well the first time was due to our archaic Electoral College system, as Gore had more popular votes.

Well the first time was due to our archaic Electoral College system, as Gore had more popular votes.

The 2nd time Bush used the Homeland Security to close down a major democratic county elections office in Ohio. Also in Ohio, there was a disctrict that had 800 registered voters that somehow managed to turn in over 2000 votes for Bush...

Anyone who lives in America and is still under the impression that they are free , is deluded
