Thought of this after reading Bobbins post where he said he spent a few hours moderating the forum (which is fantastic and fair play to you mate and thank you for dedicating your time!)

Well I think it's quite well agreed that people would like to see moderators spending more time sorting posts out e.g.

Not having to lock posts because some people have broke the rules when the thread may well be a valid thread
Posting links to previous suggestions when the suggestion has already been said.
Just having a more friendly attitude to the forum users and bringing more of a comunity feel to the forums

Well my suggestion is by all means give all moderators access to moderate all parts of the forums but assign maybe 2 or 3 a section of the forums to moderate (then those hours they spend can be dedicated to fully moderating a section)
The reason I say still give moderators full access to the forums is purely because you can't expect people to be online 24/7 and I understand that sometimes there will be a need for moderators to moderate a post instantly.

I just feel this could well make the forums run more smoothly and saying the game has become alot more 'n00b friendly' maybe the forums should follow suit.

Any thoughts?

Yes!

Possibly one of the best suggestions you've ever said Cheesey puff!

There is absolutely no cons to this suggestion...(as they can still...if desperate...moderate the other parts of the forum).

I can see advantages and problems with this suggestion.

I quite like it in theory, it gives the forums more order, and would hopefully lead to better moderating by all.

However, it relies on all moderators giving time moderating on a fairly regular and frequent basis - I wouldn't want a situation where one moderator going on holiday for a week would lead to havoc in a forum, or a thread being made just after a moderator logged off for the night, and no other moderators being officially required to do anything about it (and with less inclination/need to read that forum).

I'm not sure about it, but it certainly sounds worth thinking about.

More moderators? Some may be against this part, but if we had, say, two moderators to an area I don't think we'd have to worry about that much. :)

That's exactly why the moderators would get dedicated sections of the froum and still able to moderate all the forum.

What exactly would be the point of appointing them a section, then..? :? I think i'm missing something here?

Because as Bobbin said in some post he spends hours a day moderating the forums so if each moderator had their own section they can dedicate their time to that 1 section to hopefully do things like:
Cleaning threads not just deleting them
Posting links for previous suggestions etc.

Aye, but that's not a constant couple hours, it's spread over going through the entire forums 10-20 times a day...

To be honest while this looks like a good idea in theory, i don't see the point... why appoint mods sections, and let them still mod the whole forums, i know i for one would still moderate the entire forums anyway. And i think it will also lead to people thinking when a mod moderates outside their own section, to a loss of authority there, and us getting ignored even more than usual...
