Until just a few days ago i was all in favour of mirc ops and moderators when it came to ridiculous moaning about them taking their job too seriously. Yes those wannabe cool kids that always try to step at the very limit of beeing kicked of the channel deserve it and maybe more. Yes posts in threads that are just stupid insults deserve to be removed. But you are here to keep the forums an enjoyable place to read and post, not to rule over them with an iron fist and do police all over.
Forums are as dead as a mummy and rarelly a good topic comes and moderators instead trying to moderate and keep the discution civilised they'll jump to make it all quiet again. I honestly don't understand why Maxi deleted 2 entire pages of a very hillarious thread instead deleting just 1-2 posts made for insults only. Sure lock the thread if it's nothing constructive to be said on that topic anymore but leave the posts to be seen by all. And now another good topic about Jizz and Redemption and because 2-3 jump to pitty insults in a public and interesting topic you lock the entire topic ? Use your head and punish them not rest of us !! If somebody missbehave send warnings their way/ban them /delete their posts. We want to enjoy this forum not to be spectators of the might of moderators. You have the power, use it to do well.
Ehh ehh the first thread about top alliances fighting this round and it is locked?
Why don't you just put a temp ban on the imba azzmode dude, this is the third thread he gets locked in like 5 days...

3/4s of that thread was pure flame.
if a thread is that far gone, then it's dead tbh.
If a mod says that a thread about the top alliances fighting ATM is dead, then he does not deserve to be a mod. Do your job and keep the thread clean of insults/flaming, do some heavy moderations if you have to, but keep it open, its more than obvious that IT IS NOT!

The thread wasn't about the top fighting though. It was about calling each other names and flaming each other to death. Thats not a discussion in the slightest.
there were maybe 4/5 posts in the entire thread of worth, that didn't need moderating tbh.
You know, we give you all enough chances, we give the discussions time, leave minor flames there for a few days, and at the moment, they just seem to turn into major ones, and kill a thread, sorry guys, but it's not the moderation teams doing, we ARE just doing our jobs. It's your doing as the people who make the posts, if you can't keep civil tongues with one another, then I'm sorry to say, but you'll find more and more threads locked.
We're having to lock and delete more threads than ever these days, the team hasn't changed. Most of us have been doing it a long time. It's the players attitudes that have changed.
And at the end of the day, the moderation team just gets ignored. I made a post earlier asking people to stop flaming in the thread, removed a chunk of the thread, and the next two posts were just more flame. Now I'm sorry, but if things are going that way them imo, and i'm sure many would agree with me, that thread should just be locked.
I don't think any of you appreciate how much work we do to try and keep these forums a nice place to talk in, how much we delete, and split, and eventually, have to lock. Locking is not the first resort for a thread, but sorry, once i've cleaned a thread out a couple times. Whats the point in doing it a third? Obviously it's a topic that can't be discussed civily.
I give several hours of my time, every day to attemp to keep these forums a nice place, as do others, and the same with IRC as well. And yet, all people do is moan about the decisions we make, we were chosen to do this, because we've proven that we can make the right decisions, and yet, we still get moaned at. I know we can't please everyone, infact, these sorts of jobs are always thankless, and you rarely please many people at all, but this is a mans livelyhood, and if the forums are a horrible and hostile place, then it's going to effect that, and I'm going to do, whatever i can to make sure that doesn't happen.

That's exactly the reason i made the post. First time i logged in and i saw a topic about top alliances and it was locked already. Let the topic go on, think if the topic is dead or has potential. We do appreciate ops/moderators time invested to help but that doesn't mean we can't suggest better ways dealing with stuff.

Hey, i'm in no way against punishing ppl that can't keep civil tongues. Ask for more power, ability to temp ban selected users or to not allow them to post again in same topic or something of that sort if you need, but there are more than those guys that use this forum and it's not right majority to suffer because of few. That could apply in an ingame alliance, but this is an open place where anybody can post.
Now thats the good part of Bobbin I wanted to see, reasonable, calm, the one that is not flexing mod muscles and demonstrating mod powers. Just try to keep this up for as long as possible combined with a chilled out attitude and you will have me as your number 1 fan.
And yes, I agree with every word you said, but also do not forget that you are here to make this place better, not only by removing all the flames, insults, trash talk, spam, deviding and moving threads to the right place, but you should also remember that you are kinda serving the community and noone will like it when you lock down the threads which attract biggest attention (and yes, I know that sometimes there is just no other way than locking them). BUT imagine how a person like me feels when he logs in, seens that there is a discussion about the top alliances fighting and he is unable ot state his oppinion... this is the first and only role of a forum ffs, taking this away from people will make them very very unhappy.

Sure, i mean that thread went pretty quick, i give you that, but tbh, if a thread is racing downhill that fast, then it looks to me to be a lost cause. Hopefully the new thread will fare better. I don't like locking threads, I'm up for a good discussion as much as the next person, but still... If i see a thread, that is 3/4 spam, that fast, i give it a clean, as people to not flame, and then they just do flame anyway... well sorry, but i don't see an alternative.

I know it's unfair that the majority suffer because of the few, but sometimes that happens tbh..

was unaware that i ever flexed so called muscles... but erm, thanks i guess..

Ofc, but sometimes a thread might deteriate so fast that between logging out and logging in it's gone. It's happened to me before, so i know how frustrating it can be.
Unfortunatly, the threads that attract the most attention are the ones that will get locked most often as well.
And i don't think it is reasonable to ask a mod, to clean up, the same thread over and over and over again. It might be frustrating for you to lose the thread, but it's also frustrating to us to just be ignored. and i promise you, we don't see threads and just think... OMG LOCK IT!!! That just doesn't happen tbh. Locking is a last resort, and if a thread is locked, because of a few individuals ruining it for the whole, then warnings tend to be attached too.
