Desperation to get a Global Statistic

Annoys me.

Look at the current "Nosy Neighbour" and "Very Intriguing" stat. Just Drive By-ing their own ID to get top stat. I did contemplate doing it myself just to annoy them but it got boring very fast.

Simple gripe over. :D

Edit: They could be trying to get the relevant user awards i guess...in which case it annoys me less..but still ;)

In my attempts to get the profile award for hax, flyovers and drivebies I spammed intel a lot. That being said, with comfortably over 7.5k reports done, I was still no where near the top for that stat - so I hate to think how much time they waste just hitting the same button over and over again.
In short, everyone else gets a moral victory, so all is well :)

I disagree. That's completely different. Being exceptionally active (assuming you're not cheating) while not necessarily something most people would admire, takes an excessive amount of dedication and a lot of devotion to pull off correctly. The round my activity rarely dipped below 21 hours, i felt i deserved to have the rank 1 activity spot. Arguably that might make one a loser, but it's definitely a deserved stat, and isn't complete ****.

Of course, for those who auto refresh, 'losers' certainly does apply.

Am I a sad loser? I'll be honest, I wouldn't object on that, but I've just completed a Myers Brigg questionairre (courtesy of my Physics Department) which says I am an 'INTJ' (creative megalomaniac, most similar Simpson's character Mr. Burns) so naturally it's all part of my grand scheme!

I am not aiming to get rank 1 value this round. It's just not achievable for my activity. So in order to give myself a goal, I'm trying to get as many global stats this round as I can. Naturally people with more activity can beat me just to "annoy" me or say "hah! take that loser!", but I'm just trying to find different ways to have fun in bush. Anyone who knows me or my playstyle will know that I do not play any route conventionally, I try to find unique ways to have fun in the game that often jars with other's ideas of fun.

So I'm really sorry if I offend anyone or annoy, I promise I don't mean to. I think you get 200 user profile points for getting rank 1 in ALL of the stats at some point in one's bushtarion career, so I am trying to narrow down the stats I don't have by cutting a swathe through all of the "minor crap statistics" that everyone knows are totally meaningless xD

if he's doing every single flyover/hack/driveby etc by himself then so be it, but almost every round i've been paying attention someone 'cheats' to get this award. Ergo, this award encourages cheating.

flying over/hacking oneself is not cheating as far as im aware. Even if it is to get a stat. And i dont know how it encourages cheating either

Actually there use to be a time when people didn't ruin the statistics for fair players, for example Master Thief, some players make it their goal to obtain that stat by farming the Bots none stop and letting other people farm them.

I played a round once where, by default I was gradually getting Nosy Neighbour and I didn't want it (and at one point I had it), I was pretending to be offline and I was under attack, if my attackers had noticed that stat change whilst they were attacking me they probably would have recalled. So that round I wish there was somebody like Max who had a massive lead in that stat so I didn't have to worry about me getting it.

I suppose you can say they have earned it, but sometimes (not always) it does ruin the fun for other people who are actually playing properly to try and get the stats, and it is sad to spend half the round trying to get a stat nobody even cares about...so you might as well stop now and see if anybody else is as sad as you are =]

Yeah, but clicking "send message" repeatedly to yourself several hundred times in order to get the biggest spammer award, and hacking yourself thousands of times to get the nosy neighbour award...that is the bit where it starts becoming sad. I understand that he is aiming to get the most awards he can, but to me it just seems like a massive waste of time. I can't see what is fun about clicking "send message" repeatedly.

The word 'skill' is meaningless in this game. Everything is achieved through mindless repetition (yes it requires knowledge, but there really isn't much to learn). It's all mathematical, and Max is showing exactly that. It's almost like a work of art, because of the discussion it has created - which is ironic, because that means it's the opposite of sad and boring.

You may think what Max is doing is sad, but, in the same respect, everything you ever do in this game is sad, because you never produce anything new. It's all just clicking and typing. Rank 1 in any stat or rank is always the guy who is the most persistent, repetitive and boring.

I would agree that aiming for any one statistic is particularly dull and simple. However, in trying to get AS MANY stats as I can is actually more hard work and interesting than it seems. For example, in theory I would like to get both the most land bought and most land stolen. However, in practise, these two are VERY difficult to achieve in tandem, since stealing land means it's more expensive to buy.

If I try to lose too much land, suddenly I've got no cash to spend on gardeners to steal it back again, although I can spend it to buy land. It's rather difficult, if not impossible, to keep everything juggling just right, which to me is an interesting challenge. Probably only to me though :P
