Loading a new computer game onto my PC. It installed no problems, load it up, press play and this message appears:

Error during intilization
Video card or driver doesnt support seperate alpha blend, glow will be disabled.

I got a new video card for my computer not long ago at all.

My question is: What do i have to do, to get this game to work?

You haven't told us what game it is, what graphics card you have, so how can we help you if you don't tell us exactly what the problem is?

You can find what you have installed by going to monitor under control panel and from there going to settings.
Should have your video cards name there... then you can go to extra settings (or what evah its called in english version... and from 2nd page that is named something like adapter you should clearly be able to find it.

Tbh it sounds like your card doesn't support this feature and glow will be disabled. ;) The game still works though right?, just one shiny extra feature doesn't work. If this is so there is nothing you can do about it, maybe new graphics drivers would help but I doubt it.

Ehm, you need to know the make/model of your graphics card, then you can just google for "Graphics drivers" and the details. To find this out, right click my computer, then properties, and then I think the tab is called Hardware. There is a button "Device Manager". Click on it, and then click onto display adapter or something like that. It will have a name, probably NVIDIA... or ATI....

Back on topic ->

Ice, the graphics card name will surely be on the card itself and if not check the device manager in windows. A driver update will likely do the trick, and if not then I'm sorry - but that's one of the biggest problems with PC games these days :/

back...
Within 5 minutes of research with details of first post i was able to find following...
http://www.cod4gamers.net/modules.php?n ... opic&t=356 (http://www.cod4gamers.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=356)
saying...
COD4 wont start. It errors with 'Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled.'
This means that your video card is not supported. Onboard video chips, Nvidia cards older than the 66xx series and ATi older than the 98xx pro series are not supported by COD4. This could also be a driver problem so make sure your video drivers are upto date.

Seems this guy has because he doesn't what graphic card he has bough game he cant even run!!!
And if its due his drivers (not likely) then because he doesnt know his graphics card he cant upgrade his drivers.
So if i tell someone to learn a bit about their comp then i think im actually doing them a favour.
Thank you!!

I've removed and edited way too many posts for my liking. Back on topic now, I've spoken to BW.

Once you've found out if it's an Ati or nVidia, go to either Ati.com or nVidia.com and follow the onscreen instructions(usually Support & Drivers), then download the corresponding drivers.
Could you also tell us what DirectX version you have? (start > run > type 'dxdiag' > DirectX version at the bottom)
