Weird internet problem

Ill put this here due not catching anyon who knows about stuff online and due never being online...

Problem goes about like this...
Yuki has internet throught her mobile. Conected to laptop of hers throught bluetooth it works ok.
When connected to her PC with usb cable it doesnt. It opens irc and works in irc just fine, gets DNS etc stuff... but none of web pages loads.
Tried turning firewall off (ports), no use. Have tried installing and reinstalling modem multiple ways, no use.
Pinging for example google works just fine (resolves IP, so no DNS problem), no use. Have tried basicly everything i know about comps and no use. Whatta hell there could be the problem?

Only thing i have not done is reinstalling windows, that being really last move i would do.

No its not cable problem it works just fine, its not phone problem it works just fine, its not drivers problem as those works just fine. There is something wrong with that comp and i just cant figure out whatta heck it could be.

Only thing I can think of is a DNS problem, try specifying another DNS server. Try pinging/browsing websites that you rarely visit.

I would get DNS problem... if it wouldnt ping em...
Same way irc connects to irc.netgamers.org not to any specific IP.
So basicly it cant be DNS problem as i think of it.

open a telnet session like this:

Start -> Run
type "cmd"

Then type: telnet www.bushtarion.com 80
Then your cmd prompt will probably go blank but dont worry about this. Type:

GET / HTTP/1.0
host: www.domain.com


Exactly as you see, then press return twice.

If you get some kind of html back, even html telling you that you gave a bad request (means you made a typo) then you can communicate to the server ok, and it is a software problem on your PC (you tried a different browser?).

Welshie your "thing" doesnt work... it wont telnet to bushtarion.
Also i forgot to add that every time that phone is connected to that PC it works just fine for first 1-5 minutes.
And then in middle of everything it hangs. (essential i know... im stupid sorry)

It wont telnet then there is some connection problem.. more than that I can't say. Did you try tracert http://www.bushtarion.com to see how far your packets get? Probably not past your router I fear...

I'd suggest it's an error with the phone and it's handling of the data cable connection... an odd suggestion I know but a possibility you should keep in mind. If it works when you connect through bluetooth but not when you connect through a cable then generally you look at what has changed (the connection method) and the fault will lie there.

Obviously try both older versions and newer versions of the software being used to communicate between modem & phone (be it mobile phone software on the computer, modem drivers, or USB drivers...), and see if you get any change there.

Either way it looks like the PC or phone itself is blocking port 80 entirely (it can't be your ISP since you say it works fine through bluetooth).

What about https eg

Does that work? Https is a different port to standard http port 80.

Im having doubt that it might have something to do with windows update... Its what gonna try next.
As it works just fine for a while and then it just dies...
