View Full Version : "Copy staff to clipboard" - button

When i sit with one of my NAPs on msn or something, it's always a pain to write what and how many staff I'm sending to a target. I would like a "copy staff to clipboard" - button, or something similiar, so all i have written in the "send"-boxes gets copied to the clipboard. Then I could easily send this info to my NAP(s).
What do you think?

Target: Some Schmuck's ID
Status: ETA 3
Hippy: 69
Like so? It already exists. Click "Details" on your mob. :P

Hehe.. yeah, I know.. but like before I send out a mob..
The button could take all i have entered into the "send"-boxes and copy it to the clipboard..

Why?

So that it'll be easier to communicate what I'm gonna send to a target to my NAP(s)... I can think of lots of times I've been writing stuff like that on msn. Keep in mind that this is before you send out a mob, when you have the numbers all punched in and all you gotta do is press "send"..

How is it any different than the details screen?

So basically you want a button so you don't have to do the following:
1) Click details
2) highlight them all
3) click ctrl + c
Sorry but it's a bit pointless

no, everybody hasnt read his suggestion properly
he wants a button you click that copies a little description of what units you are GOING to send...so basically you havent sent any units out yet...you go onto military page, say you put "a" in the box for gardies, geos and officers...
then BEFORE actually sending the units anywhere, you can click a button that will copy and paste something along the lines of
Gardeners: XXX
Geo-Phys Thief: XXX
Officer: XXXX
so he can say to his NAP..."this is what im planning to send" without actually sending it
note: i still think its completely unneccesary...just say to him "im gonna send 10m officers, 20m flak, 500k geos..." etc...
but i thought people should understand what he is suggesting before they keep commenting on how it already exists...

Pinpower has more or less nailed it on the head. Unless you're a briber there's simply hardly any excuse for this suggestion other than sheer laziness. As well, i'm not sure of the coding aspect but i figure it might be a little tricky to have the game read what you've typed into the boxes, then take that and auto c/p it just because you're too lazy to write what you're going to send. I'm all for laziness, but i think this suggestion is a little too obscurely lazy ;)

the coding wouldnt be to complex but i dont agree this idea is needed, other than your little problem who would use it? things work fine as it is how long does it take to type:
"send all your strikers half of your apaches and a third of your grens"?

Well, I'm just thinking "why not?"
The button could also calculate the combined value of all the units you are going to send.. in terms of determining AR.
And my friend is using puppet masters, he and I actually use a lot of time to talk about what we are going to send to a target, not to mention the time we use calculating combined value. I do not see this button as "obscure laziness" :P

i think the main reason of "why not" is cos it just isnt neccesary, or IMO helpful/useful enough to warrant having it at all...
and yeah i think the coding would be annoying/difficult to try and get the game to look at what letters/numbers you have in a box without actually doing anything with them...(no troops get sent by the use of this button)
plus, i think we need to wait for azzer to actually finish (not complaining...just saying) age 4.5 part 2 stuff before he starts on anything new...

agree with pin power.
also i believe when you discuss with friends and naps what to send, its simple to just say what your going to send. you know what you have and what your nap has... you say
x vamps
x rpg
x snipers
will wipe him out with minimal losses. he has X many troops worth Xbillion and your troops are worth X billion thats to much will trigger. so take away Xsnipers. how can that be hard.
if its more complex than that to work out how to kill some one then your over complicating it. or being dishonourable. and may as well just go for some easy targets on your own. as you wont need to split the land

I don't really see any reason for this suggestion to be implemented, sorry.. It's just pointless when you can just say.. yeah I'm going to be sending this this and this, without needing anything to be copied.
(Sorry if anyone has said anything along the lines of that, only read the first few posts :))

If it really bothers you that much why not send the troops to defend ID 1, use details tab, c&p and then recall! The effort of that is a lot less than what it would take Azzer to implement your suggestion, especially when there are so many other more pressing issues with the game.
