Consider the intelligence of George "Dubya" Bush.
Then think about how intelligent you'd have to be to blindly follow him. Are you scared?

Garreett I didn't know that you work for JP morgan!! I read about that this morning too, he is going to advise on effects of international political and economical development iirc didn't really pay much attention but saw that he is getting paid a mil per annum guess he must have some valuable info and experience in those areas. Maybe another investment bank is going to hire Geroge Bush in the future, that will be quite something :)

He does have quite a bit of intelligence...
He is also a great ass kisser tho
He's a great politician, an extremely intelligent man and well informed on the subjects he is paid to speak on. I'm far from a fan of his, but I am not going to discredit someone that doesn't deserve to have his name dragged through the mud by people who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.
He just picked a war that we couldn't win.
We like wars that we win. It's when they go wrong that no one likes you.

Uh.. No we don't.. I'd rather we didn't go to war at all. Even if we win.

Hi, Falklands.
You seriously think most people would have not preferred it if we'd just not had our Island invaded? Whilst I have little evidence to back up my claims on this matter, I think it highly likely that the vast majority of people find war impermissible unless we have no other option.

On the subject of Tony Blair, I thought I'd try and give a slightly more balanced opinion of him that most in this thread.
There can be little doubt that he is highly intelligent - he's highly articulate and astute, and didn't become Labour Leader and PM without having a lot to recommend him. However, from his dealings in politics he does seem susceptible to becoming one-minded on subjects. He can form an opinion on a matter, and attempt to follow that opinion through, without reconsidering. Sometimes this might be a good thing, sometimes it might not - it depends what his opinion is.
On another note: your argument is flimsy, to say the least.

You should try reading The Sun some time.
Vivi's point was that Blair wouldn't be disliked as much as he is if the war had been quick and successful. The Falklands is a prime example of how a struggling leader massively boosted her popularity thanks to a minor war - but one that we won. If we'd lost in the Falklands she would have really struggled.
It's nice to talk about morality and how War Is Bad, but that isn't reflected in approval ratings after successful ones.

There's nothing flimsy about my argument whatsoever. I'm fully concurrent with world politics and affairs and I promise you now that he would not have gone down the road he has; had things worked out differently in Iraq.
The man was in office a record amount of years, and you do not achieve that by being useless or stupid. It's easy to criticise someone and not have to explain your reasoning for doing so but quite frankly, nothing is ever so easy as it is portrayed in the mass media. Spare a thought for the fact perhaps they knew a hell of a lot more than you and thus such decisions do not come easily.
JP Morgan will not find fault with Tony Blair. The man is set to make millions of pounds. If that's the sign of an "idiot" or "moron" then sign me up.

There's no doubt Tony Blair was an excellent politician, and a highly capable one at that. I think the man is extremely intelligent, and the last I heard he was going to assume a role overlooking the problems in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Is this no longer the case? I thought he'd be a breath of fresh air for the region.
I have a great amount of respect from the man, he certainly repaired a lot of the damage the conservative governments before him had delivered. I'm far from a Labourite, but I think if not in his later years, definitely the first half of the term in which he was PM were successful for the country as a whole.

And made too many bad decisions. Or at least, didn't stand up and not let those decisions be made.
Not a fan to be honest... but then, he's not from my party.. so biased i guess.

I thought he was only getting half a mil a year? Not that that makes much difference ofc :P But lets face it with the job he's been given being part time its his name that they're paying the money for rather than the actual advice he can offer (altho ofc the advice will be very useful i have no doubt), from JP Morgans point of view they've now got an internationally respected and influential figure advising them which will generate plenty of faith/trust in their potential/current customers.
But even looking at him purely as an advisor (without the brand he brings with him) really his credentials are very good, he was PM for more years than anyone else and was very involved with politics internationally so he does have good experience and as has been said already you don't get to move into #10 without having at least some intelligence. I'm not his biggest fan but I can see why he's been given this job and what both parties will gain from it, and I would like to second this point:
