i was playing a level 70 warrior on my mates account i worked him from the ground up to get to 70

he played a 70 hunter. then switched made mine the main in his guild


was on server sunstrider. and had most of the top gear at the time both had outstanding gear. not to mention all the top arena gear. but he sold aco****

think he got like £500 for it nvm. it was fun while it lasted. especially being gnome warrior. escape artist on top of those escap trinkets. mages nightmare. had a hell of alot of crit then respecced fury instead of mortal strike. because the guild on the server needed a dpser.

ended up second highest damger a few times. only out damaged by warlock occasionally. was a good little warrior.

cant remeber the guild. think it was randoms on the sunstrider server, top guild pretty much. first to do growl etc. b4 the nerf too.

i havent played wow in ages.

Like any game it's about choice, some prefer to pvp and some pve. Personally I pvp a little with my priest, but on the whole I prefer to pve with my mage as I get to experience more than the usual battlegrounds/arenas day in, day out. I love learning new encounters and working with another 24 people to try and kill some damned boss... you just can't beat the euphoria you feel after killing a boss you've been fighting for weeks!

Each to their own I say... what a boring world it would be if we were all the same/enjoyed the same things :)

Myself, Angela, Wintermute and Bobbin play on Outland EU on the alliance side. Some of the dutchies (siers, sovetnik, vickorie and scaggy) play on Defias Brotherhood EU horde side (I have a little pally there now so I can chat with them). :) Alas on Outland I am not in the same guild as the rest.

I've been slowly getting tempted to give WoW one more chance, mainly in light of lack of any other MMO's out atm (or coming out soon), and because quite a few of you guys play it. We'll see... still not got around to it yet, and one thing putting me off is the amount of add-ons/macros/whatever else Angela seems to have and you (Stef) and Dave have talked about the last time we all met up... sounds like there's tonnes of third party stuff you really need to play the game, putting me off just firing it up and creating a char!

(I'm only interested in PVE, and generally tend to solo... (Dave said Night Elf hunter or any raced Warlock would be good for that)

Indeed, Anglea has far too many...

I only use a few Addons... A quest one because well, i suck at questing, and it gives me hint in game rather than tabbing to a browser... A bag mod, and fubar.. which has a load of useful **** on it...oh and auctioneer too... and a map mod for co-ordinates :P but in all honesty.. you don't need any of that... it's just to make stuff easier :P

lol ive got rid of most of my addons, i have omen, quest helper, arkinventory, auctioneer .necrosis which is just for warlocks, i added atlast loot today as i was to lazy to go and find out what all the drops where in kara and gruul! probably have a map one as well as im terrible with directions!

But ofc you dont need addons to play wow it just makes life sometimes easier!

I would never be without omen, quest helper and auctioneer, necrosis i could probably live without!

There is a level cap at 70...

The original had a cap of 60.
Burning Crusade has one of 70.
Wrath of the Lich King will have one of 80.

You think im bad, was talking to someone in my guild and i made a comment about how we will need to install all our addons again due to the patch, and they said they had 60! i repeat 60 addons!! but only used 10 of them!

Warlock is good, as is rogue, and hunter ofc... erm.. paladin maybe... or do what i did, throw away all advice and roll a Mage anyway...

well on my second day i have a lvl 12 night elf rogue with secondary professions of skinning and enchanting (both about 40-50 skill) pretty poor equipment but im grinding to level up and with the money i hope to improve my gear

anyone willing to pm me here or in irc with some tips as im a complete n00b

i would say to you to either drop skinning for mining or herb, or drop enchanting for leather working.

reason being skinning if by far the worst collection profession and the only reason to have it would be mto make yourself gear from leatherworking.

keep Enchanting... proper good money maker, i make a small fortune in buying greens that are under 20s off the AH, Disenchanting them, and selling them back tis easy money...

erm, yeah skinning is a bit poor, herb is a good source of income.... people like me who have alc and no herb are always looking to buy herbs :P

Skinning is OK IMO.

Later on particularly at the level 30s, you can make lots of money fast and easily due to quests/mobs in Strangelthorn. Have Mining as a prof as well, makes quite a bit of money.

Raided MC with my rogue WAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day, Night Elf male.
Switched to my hunter just before raggie and raided with her from summer 2005 (before hunters were "fixed" :p) right through mc, bwl, aq and naxx pre-TBC. Levelled to 70 in tier3 and cleared kara, gruul, mag and up to vashj phase 3 a few times before I couldn't support the hardcore life anymore.
Have 3 70s now, though if I kept playing, I'd have more by now. Hunter, Moonkin and Shadow Draenei. Multiple alts 60-69 and a few sub 60s.

I still get stick from my friends for the 3 years I played it, but i shrug it off, I love the game too much to let it get to me <3

A common misconception, i have high lvl chars on 2 very busy servers and tbh there is very little difference in attitudes and ages on horde and alliance, just as many kids wanna be the nasty Horde as the 'pretty' Alliance. I mean after all nothing i quite as juvenile up as barrens chat.

I've found the Ally are extremely arrogant. While a lot of the horde are just laid back and relaxed.

So my conclusion, Ally = ex Everquesters... and Horde FTW!

man it really is if your leveling without a shadow of a doubt, on horde there is a place for every level unlike alliance there is often deadspots in your leveling.

Headed into a major city yet, Twigley? There'll be hundreds of people there.

You're not going to have that many people levelling up at level 10, and there's more than a few zones that you can be doing quests in at any one time. You'll also see more people around when you start questing in contested territories,rather than Horde only areas. If all else fails, come and play on the same realm as Cal and I! ;P

For those unaware, the beta for Wrath of the Lich King has begun (last week actually) and a whole host of information and changes (and changes of the changes) (and changes of the changes of the changes....hey, it's a beta :P) is abundant on the relevant fan sites (http://www.mmo-champion.com).

These include changes to base class abilities and talents, including the addition of the completely new class: The Death Knight; as well as changes to the basics of the game, with professions being improved, and Inscription being introduced.

I have a question... why do horde players enjoy ganking alliance players so much in Stanglethorn Vale? What sense of enjoyment do they actually get from it? :/

Also, do alliance players have a habit of ganking the horde players in Stranglethorn Vale? Or is it just a strange horde fixation? Just wondering because it's really slowing down my entire levelling process :P The irony is that in Desolace most players on both sides tend to help eachother out...

STV is well known for being the ganking capital of the world.

I'm not quite sure why, but it's possibly because at level 30 it is the first zone in which horde and alliance actively quest in the same area (places like 1k needles, hillsbrad, duskwood don't really have equal quests for both sides) with the neutral goblin town being the major quest hub.

My theory as to why it's more horde dominated is due to grom'gol being in the middle of the map, with a flight path there (until 2.3 the alliance didn't have their FP in the rebel camp) and more importantly a graveyard. This made it much easier for horde to quest in the zone and if ganked, recover faster, as well as more easily call in help from idle max levels in orgrimmar.

A lot of people (alliance) I know don't even go to STV to level, despite the insane number of quests and mob density, making it one of the best zones to level 30-40+, because of the ganking, which is a shame, though I still do the low level quests and now move onto Dustwallow Marsh instead (as it tends to be safer :P). But before 2.3 was introduced I would do a lot of stv, only going to desolace when absolutely necessary (god tbh it's a hole :P).

Although changed in the latest patch, mounts weren't about till level 40, meaning that such a long zone was a pita to traverse (and not to mention at that pace, perilous) which was another drawback to the zone. This is better with lvl 30 mounts now though.

STV is amazing, you can get like a good few levels at blazing speeds if you know what you're doing.

And as for ganks, use /1 chat to ask for help with ganks, or ask guildies or just be good at PvP, if you're a hunter/warlock you can kill any other class at that level easily if you know what you are doing :) And also might be wise to carry some health pots or invisibility pots along with you escapes :P

LOL!!! Laughing Skull is the server I (and the rest of the guild) moved away from last year as it was dead and horde > alliance something like 70/1!! Moved to Outland and never looked back :)

Anyway, in answer to Max, I play on both sides, alliance and horde and I can assure you I get ganked equally as much in STV. I completely skip that area now when levelling as it takes far too much time otherwise. Those are the trials of being on pvp servers. Personally, I'm not a pvp fan, but I'd rather be on a pvp server than a "carebear" server. :P

Carebear - this term is used by pvp'ers towards pve'ers as a description of something soft and weak :P

It entirely depends on what you play for. I play WoW like I played Bushtarion... extremely seriously :P I am a hardcore raider who wants to see her guild clear every last bit of TBC content before the next expansion comes out. This was achieved months ago, before patch 2.4 when SWP was introduced so now we're desperately trying to clear SWP (alas we've only downed the first boss up to now, but boss 2 is imminent) :)

I played this quite heavily for around 10 months, i thoroughly enjoyed the game, proberbly the best game ive ever played. However its highly addictive. I would not recommend this to anyone who has an addictive nature. My best mate in r/l quit after having played for 4 years and basically the reason i did also. I also realised i was spending way too much time on the game. Anyone still playing i highly recommend quitting if your addicted. Its really not good. I ended up playing horde side with 2 warriors, level 70 and 80, both in T7.5 and T4. Also had a 70 warlock and 54 Priest
