View Full Version : People Who Owe You Money

Isn't it REALLY frustrating when someone owes you money from a while back, you remind them 2 years later after something prompts your memory, they initially deny it, you remind them using forum posts proving it, and then accept that they owe you the money, and then ignore you for nearly two months and don't pay up.
Now if said person had explained a good reason why they couldn't pay up straight away, and kept me updated when they could pay, then I'd have been cool with that...
But then spotting forums posts from them after they bought a new computer game with an RRP around the same amount of what is owed, REALLY bugs me!

if it bugs you so much either dont lend money out or take it the person privately i dont know who you lent money to but making a forum thread about it i wouldnt have thought was the way to go to get it back
btw 2 years is a long time was you in contact constantly with them during that time? after you reminded them was there a chance they could have forgot/got mixed up in real life stuff?
Just go straight to the person and tell him he is full of crap Steve...

Get yourself an M16 and blow the mother away.
Also, I agree with the gripe. Frumpet still owes me 5 BCs from round 22.

Borrowing money and not returning it is so disrespectful. Im in complete agreement Steve, if they were a respectful person, they would let you know why they were unable to pay you and they certainly wouldnt be purchasing things for their leisure before returning your money- just a slap in the face.
I know that you shouldnt lend money if you expect it back--but its not really the gripe here is it? So, bottom line...they suck.

It was to pay for something as part of a organised event which I was to get my money back from them - rather than lending money.
And following 2 months of constant messaging with no response, I felt the urge for a gripe! :P

^^ I think that covers that bit - although just to add, in the last 2 months I have been messaging the person at least once every 2 weeks, and if someone had got that mixed up in real life stuff, then they wouldn't be checking their forum messages every day.

Hypothetically speaking, how much of a "recovery fee" could the recovering party expect to receive?

I'm confused :? I've received a pm telling me to read this thread saying that you were referring to me Steve. Yet I paid you months ago and haven't heard from you in sooooo long (hence my confusion as you say you've been mailing this person for months, yet I've not heard from you in at least a year?) And you have my phone number, work email and home address so I doubt you'd have trouble getting in touch :P

Ah... that would make sense why Angela was getting all defensive...
No, it's not you I'm referring to at all! :)
Ps. You're right, I haven't spoken to you in ages! Go check your mobile :)

Steve: visit his house with a baseball bat, knock on his door, and tell him to give you the ****ing money, or you wont knock the next time around.

This is where I have real moral obligations. For example, someone took the time to help me with my work and was available for my advice, they then got into some money situations and I was happy to throw BCs at them until they had all they wanted (ID, P-Unit etc.). If someone helps me out, without any promise of a donation back, I feel I need to really pay them back. For example, someone could have bought my P-Unit because I was having money issues, 2 rounds later I could then give them 15 BCs to say thanks.
I know it's slightly different, but it's very interesting how people's morals are off the mark (I am in Estate Agency at the moment and I see it everyday due to the 'Credit Crunch') - People just **** on people then leave them in the ditch.
Several people owe me money from lending them money for taxis etc. I am never going to see any of it again, one day they will realise they are screwing people over, and they won't realise it until they are in the **** and noone will help.
Karma will make them get raped and come back as a sperm.

I'm pretty sure I know who this person is after using some very cunning detective skills, but all the same...care to name and shame? Maybe that'll help (and if not, it'll be entertaining for us)

Unfortunately Martin, the type of person you speak of is the type of person that will get further in life financially, because of their ability to disregard any feelings of moral obligation. As the saying goes 'nice guys finish last'. I just hope your right about the Karma.
P.S. anyone else find it funny how Martin is an Estate Agent but is giving lessons on financial morality? :P
