Silly Q.... If my unit fires close, does it only fire in the 3rd tick its been there? - ie pointless sending for last tick landing?

It will fire if the attackers are on their close tick, no matter how long the close unit has been there. So you can last tick an incoming with a close firing unit, even if you only arrive for the last tick.
