Yes, obviously, we have new forums! Check the latest portal news from the main Bushtarion portal for full details on all of the new changes :D

(note: yes I know a little bit of work still needs doing on the forums - the old sticky threads, forum rules, mod/op/helper lists etc., all shall be done!)

im suprised u can c+p the url's esp from the avatar, i dunno where i got mine, but in the old forums u could never steal some1 else's avatar just by using the url from the properties, but now u can :)

Yeah... there is port code for PHPBB2 to 3, but not for my forums - I'd hacked the database up so much it was nuts... eg PHPBB2 (official) never had categories for forums, or sub-categories - and the port code wouldn't have had a clue how to handle any of the data because of things like that.

Besides which, it's nice to have everything starting afresh anyway :)

You can now set "subsilver2" (the new phpBB3 version of it) as your forum style, from within your user control panel->board preferences->style section.

This looks very similar to the old forum style, so is good for those of you that really cannot get to grips with the new forum layout at all!

That'll be all the styles for now, but I'm sure that in the not too distant future I'll be adding more! :P

I have put the old style subSilver layout in to the new forums and set that as the new board default... but you can still use the funky new look forum styles by heading to your user control panel, and changing the style there! Expect more styles to be installed in the future! :D

Azzer is aware that it's not showing, and he's looking into getting that link back; it's not a forum option, so it'll take a while, he needs to play with the forum code.

Can't say the changes thrill me, but I'll get used to them, and nothing seems at all objectionable. :)

The only thing which seems slightly pointless is the offline/online button things underneath people's names. They take up quite a bit of space and look 'more important' - and definitely more prominent - than people's names, which doesn't seem right.

I'm not actually moaning or anything, doesn't bother me...but I expected the long awaited new forums to be a pretty major improvement.

There are ALOT of behind the scenes changes regarding how the forums work etc, and alot of changes regarding the management of the forums, I.E. mods admin etc.

The changes may seem cosmetic, but at the end of the day, forums are just forums, however, it's always best to be running the latest version of any given software, due to fixes in bugs, and security flaws.

I run some PHPbb3 Forums else where... and they are FAR easier to manage than PHPbb2.x.x

OK, after a little more browsing I'm seeing some small but rather neat changes thats fixed some little annoyances of the old system. Sooo I guess it's all good!
